Credit Card Processing Simplified

A case study...

If you are looking for Florida merchant services providers, then check out this article before you sign up with just any merchant account provider.

Not long ago Marie shared with me her experience of setting up merchant services for her business for the first time.

Unfortunately for her, she ended up in a nightmare situation. Here's a bit of what she had to say:

"after signing with a new merchant account company, and being with them for only less than 1 month, I am already in a difficult situation with the sales rep..."

Unfortunately for her, the problem she describes is all too common when it comes to setting up a merchant account.

Why is that?

Finding the best merchant service providers

I've said it a number of times before, and I'll say it again.

There is much more to choosing a merchant account provider than simply choosing the "best" rate.

For starters, some provider do not guarantee their rates.

Which means that after you sign on the dotted line they are free to charge you basically whatever they want.

And that's exactly what happened to Maria:

"... I need to contact my lawyer on how to proceed... as I am already out $100 that the sales rep was to reimburse for charges that were not billed to me..."

What's more, you want to make sure that the person you are talking with has the authority to fulfill the promises made to you when you sign on the dotted line.

In other words, what good is a promise to YOU when the person making the promise has no power "make good" on their word.

So what can you do?

Maria admitted to me that...

"unfortunately, I did not do research before I signed a new contract."

So make sure you do some research by getting more than one rate quote.

And ask some tough questions after you receive a number of merchant account quotes.

Then you can compare for yourself who seems to be the best provider for you particular credit card processing needs.

Some questions you might want to ask merchant service providers are:

  1. If I run into a problem, will you be personally responsible for helping me?
  2. Are my rates guaranteed?
  3. If so, for how long can I expect my rates to remain the same?
  4. Are there any early termination fees?

Does that make sense to you?

There's more to accepting credit cards -- whether you have multiple locations or you own a "mom and pop" business.

In fact, believe it or not asking "what's your rate?" over the phone is the LAST thing you should be thinking about, because there are multiple rates, fees and other charges depending on your type of business and how you want to accept credit cards.

Not to mention that quoted rates over the phone are often misleading, or only apply to your business 20% of the time.

    The key?

To get the best merchant account you need to talk with a solutions provider. You can learn more about merchant processing services by checking out some articles below:
